Rising Phoenix Dance Company in cooperation with Kashmir Dance Company were inspired to present Dancing for Darfur on November 17, 2007! With more than 2 million people driven from their homes, Darfur has been described as one of the worlds worst humanitarian crises. Fighting is increasing across the region, and the people of Darfur are suffering violence, atrocities and abduction. The organizers of Dancing for Darfur intend to bring our dance community together to make a tangible, lasting worldwide difference. Every single dollar raised at the show will be donated to the International Rescue Committee, which delivers lifesaving aid, protects women and girls, and speaks out for global action on behalf of the Sudanese people. Before the show we will have local artists, silent auction and raffle items, and souvenir items. The show offers a variety of wonderful artists and performers that have gathered from all over the state for this worthy cause. We opened the door, and we welcome you.
